
NASRDA ANNOUNCES FIRST LUNAR CRESCENT VISIBILITY FOR MARCH 2025
The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), through its Centre for Basic Space Science (CBSS), has successfully calculated and predicted that the first astronomical lunar crescent for the month of March 2025 will be visible to the naked eye in Nigeria on the evening of Sunday, March 30, 2025.
In a statement by the Director Media and Corporate Communications Department of the Agency, Dr. Felix Ale, the conjunction of the moon will occur at approximately 11:58 AM (West African Time) on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
The statement states that, the young lunar crescent will not be visible to the naked eye on this date anywhere in Nigeria, instead, the first sighting of the crescent moon with unaided vision will be on Sunday, March 30, 2025, between 6:19 PM and 8:06 PM, depending on location.
The State-by-State Crescent Visibility Times are as follows:
– Maiduguri (Borno State): 6:19 PM – 7:23 PM
– Yola (Adamawa State): 6:20 PM – 7:23 PM
– Damaturu (Yobe State): 6:23 PM – 7:28 PM
– Gombe (Gombe State): 6:29 PM – 7:33 PM
– Kano (Kano State): 6:37 PM – 7:43 PM
– Abuja (FCT): 6:43 PM – 7:47 PM
– Lagos (Ikeja): 6:56 PM – 7:58 PM
– Birnin Kebbi (Kebbi State): 6:55 PM – 8:01 PM
For all other states, the crescent will be visible within the range of 6:19 PM – 8:06 PM.
