
NASRDA TO HOLD STAKEHOLDERS CONFERENCE ON SPACE REGULATION
The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has concluded necessary arrangements for the successful hosting of its stakeholders conference on the regulation of space activities in Nigeria.
In a statement by the Director, Media and Corporate Communications of the Agency, Dr. Felix Ale, the workshop, initially scheduled for March 25, 2025, will now hold on April 8, 2025 at the NASRDA headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, the workshop, themed “Engagement
and Sensitization of Stakeholders for the Commencement of Regulation on Licensing and Supervision of Space Activities in Nigeria,” aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss the framework for licensing and overseeing space-related activities in the country.
Dr. Ale expressed regret over any inconvenience the rescheduling might cause, emphasizing the Agency’s commitment to ensuring a well-organized and impactful engagement.
He urged all invited participants to take note of the new date and prepare to contribute meaningfully to the discussions aimed at advancing Nigeria’s space regulatory framework.
Dr Ale explained that the National Space Research and Development Agency pursuant to its powers under section 6(k) and 9(1) of NASRDA Act 2010, Gazette No 106 Vol.108 dated 28th September,2021 now has the mandate and presidential approval to regulate all space activities in and over the Nigerian territory.
Against this background, all existing and intending operators in the Space industry are required to comply with all regulatory guidelines found on the NASRDA website, register their operations with the Space Regulation and Spectrum Management department of NASRDA and obtain appropriate licenses for their activities.
The proposed stakeholders conference according to the NASRDA Spokesperson is designed among other things to create an avenue for robust deliberations and the way forward for the overall interest and benefits of our great country.
