
No fewer than 3,800 aged are benefitting from the conditional cash Transfer being carried out by Ondo state and the federal government.
The beneficiaries were drawn from six local government areas selected for pilot programme which makes available #20,000 for the aged on a quarterly basis.
In a chat with naijaparrots reporter, Demola Kunlere in Akure, Special Adviser to Governor Akeredolu on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Dr. (Mrs) Olubunmi Ademosu said the list of the beneficiaries were drawn from the social register put in place through physical verification and propelled by the State Government.
20,000 Naira is given to the beneficiaries on quarterly basis.





According to her, the six local government areas are Akure North , Ifedore, Owo, Ileoluji-Oke-Igbo, Igbokoda and Ese-Odo.
802 aged are benefitting in Akure North, 531 in Ifedore and 549 in Owo local government area.
In Ileoluji-Oke-Igbo, 613 are benefitting while 937 aged are part of the exercise in Igbokoda.
Akoko SouthWest local government area has 439 beneficiaries.
Dr. Ademosu explained that with the aid of social register, a veritable platform was created for eventual implementation of the programme when approval is given for the remaining twelve local government areas as the register has been upgraded.
She said the Conditional Cash Transfer had been in existence in Ekiti, Osun and many other states while Ondo never had the opportunity to participate.
Ademosu said the programme became effective in Ondo State with the determination of government to ensure that “our people are part of the programme”.


In her words, “our people visit the communities and all stakeholders are engaged. We prepare them for a town hall meeting or even under the tree”.
We have civil servants in the local government areas who serve as community officers towards determining who is vulnerable or not. A widow can be better then a married. It depends on how life treats people” Ademosu stressed.
The Special Adviser added that it has always been a transparent process as the community people are involved in the the selection process.
