28 YEARS AFTER: FAMILY, COMMUNITY REMEMBER LATE OLUFON OF IFON- OMIMA LAND, OBA ADEGBERA ODOGIYON
Family and the entire Ifon community, the headquarters of Ose local government area of Ondo State are reflecting on the life and times of a late Olufon of Ifon-Omimaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adegbera David Odogiyon.
This is in commemoration of passage of the highly cerebral traditional authority 28 years ago.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Adegbera David Odogiyon reigned from 1969 to 1996 and played significant roles in ensuring socio-economic and political development of the ancient town.
It is on record that Oba Adegbera Odogiyon was instrumental to the emergence of Ifon as the headquarters of Ose local government area.
Speaking with newsmen, one of his children, Prince(Barrister) Adegboye Odogiyon said their father’s legacy as a traditional authority, a good father, team player and disciplinarian would continue to be a reference point.
In his words, “our father, Olufon of Ifon-Omimaland who reigned from 1969 to 1996 created new orientations that facilitated improved status for our community and its environs while projections were made for future generations.”
“We the children and the descendants are also conscious of bequeathing legacies that our own children would also be proud of,” Barrister Odogiyon emphasized.
“It’s 28 years now that Kabiyesi left us. We miss him but we are convinced and consoled that our father is resting in the bossom of the Most High, Prince Odogiyon added.
Apart from playing his roles as traditional ruler in the community and the state in general, Oba Adegbera Odogiyon was always in touch with Indigenes in the diaspora as he was the First Olufon to travel overseas.
Kabiyesi was in the United Kingdom in 1981 and Brazil 1995 just as the trips added value to the existence of Ifon-Omimaland and its indigenes.
