4 OUT OF 8 SUSPECTED THUGS WHO INVADED CHURCH AT AKURE ARRESTED, DETAINED
Hell let loosed today at a popular Church named Atorise Prayer Ministry located at the back of the Ade Super Hotel, Ilesa Garage Road in Akure when people suspected to be thugs running to about 8 invaded the Church while the Sunday Service was ongoing.
Investigations conducted by Treasure Newspaper revealed that the suspected thugs suddenly arrived at the Church premises on the excuse that they wanted to collect money from a member of the Church who owed them.
But information from those present while the unfortunate incidence happened revealed that the suspected thugs came to the Church premises at Atorise Prayer Ministry with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, guns, sticks and charms disrupting the Church Service before they were overpowered by the Church security men and the youths of the Church.
The suspected thugs were said to have shot into the air severally, scaring away the Church members and putting on hold the Church Service which was already ongoing at the time of the invasion.
In a phone interview with the Church Secretary, Mr Adebayo Olarewaju, he officially confirmed the incidence to Treasure Newspaper.
Explaining, Olarewaju said as his routine to always move around the Church premises for security reasons, he saw a man running inside the Church with sticks and charms and on trying to stop him, he noticed some noises coming from the Children side of the Church and observed a member of the Church already been beaten up by the suspected thugs.
According to him, he said, “before he knew it, there was a serious pandemonium everywhere in the Church which led to the Church Service to be put on hold. I saw them with cutlasses, charms while church members were shouting thief and some others also shouting kidnappers and pleading that they should come to their rescue.
“We made serious efforts to resist them from perpetrating any evil. They are about 8 of them. We then called the Policemen from the Okuta – Elerinla Police Station which covers the Church location. The Policemen came and we were able to apprehend 4 out of the 8 people (two men and two women).
Olarewaju equally narrated how, after the police had arrested them and were taken to the police station, some Odua People’s Congress, OPC, running to about 6 on bikes on their uniforms and caps came to attack them and prevent the Policemen from going with those arrested.
Olarewaju added that the 4 suspects arrested at the Church premises by the police are already in the police station at the Okuta Elerinla in Akure.
