The Ondo State Government is intensifying efforts at ensuring that the various Independent Power Projects being carried out in the state are completed as scheduled.
The projects were initiated following the realisation of the Ondo State Power Sector Law in December 2020 when the bill was passed by the state House of assembly and signed into law by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
It gave the state power to generate and distribute energy, especially in areas that could be described as difficult terrain and riverine areas where connection to the national grid could be herculean task.
The projects have been completed in areas which include Ala-Elefosan near Akure and Idanre, Lomileju in Ondo East local government area, Obadore in Odigbo local government area and Ugbonla in Ilaje local government area.
Other towns and villages where the Independent Power Projects are in progress include Ofosu, Oloruntedo, Orisunbare and Erinjo 2.
The state government has also commenced the process of connecting the buildings at Alagbaka in the heart of the State capital with commencement of the Power Projects located near Alagbaka Primary School.

Engr. Abe who was accompanied by Director of Planning and Independent Power Plant, Engr. Mayowa Ajumobi assured that security of the equipment has also been prioritized in conjunction with the residents of the communities, especially traditional authorities.
