The management team of any organization determines the progress, relevance and success of the organization, therefore it becomes imperative that managers in the education industry are conversant with new trends in education management.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Ondo State, Olufemi Agagu FNIVS, stated this in Akure while addressing guests and participants at a training programme organized by the ministry to acquaint Education Officers on management levels with new trends in educational management.
The training focused on Strengthening Quality Assurance Practices, Office Management, Report and Speech Writing, as well as Civil Service Administration and Effective Service Delivery for Development, and was aimed at equipping the participants with relevant managerial skills to perform maximally in their present jobs and for higher responsibilities.
The Commissioner said the need to regularly review management processes and methods to keep pace with current trends and ensure that human and material resources are effectively mobilized to attain set objectives as Directors, Advisers, Managers, Troubleshooters and elevators of educational efforts, informed the training programme.
He reminded the Education Officers who are on the management levels to bear in mind that they are the principal actors that are saddled with implementing government’s policies that can facilitate the attainment of it’s educational goals at all levels for a worthwhile impact on teaching and learning.
Mr. Agagu hinted that the state government has set up Human Capital Development Programme Committee, and the State Technical and Steering Committee, to drive government programmes and activities, an initiative aimed at putting Ondo State on the right course of equiping it’s Civil Service for optimum performance.
He appreciated the efforts of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, for sponsoring the training and re-training covering different areas of specialization for Officers and Teachers, noting that ICT Teachers selected from Public Secondary Schools across the state are currently undergoing training to further boost their capacities in digital education.
According to the Commissioner, it was encouraging that despite the prevailing global and national economic challenges and competing demands for resources in various sectors of the state, the Akeredolu administration has remained committed to improving and sustaining the quality of education in the state.
Welcoming guests and participants, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Lola Amuda, emphasized the importance of capacity building for efficient and optimum performance and it’s relevance in the face of new inventions and challenges.
The programme was organized by the Planning, Research & Statistics Department of the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, in conjunction with Leaders Consulting Incorporated.
