A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Abayomi Akogun has described as shocking the sudden death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye.
The Ikere-born versatile politician and community leader passed on during a brief illness at the State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.
Chief Akogun said the late Speaker played significant roles in the existence of the APC and sustenance of its wide acceptability by the people both in the urban and the grassroots areas.
The party chieftain stated that the Speaker added a high degree of value to legislative business which resulted in the cordiality witnessed between the arm of government and other administrative institutions, especially the executive in the state.
Akogun condoled with the immediate family, the people of Ikere-Ekiti, All Progressives Congress and the state at large, stressing that late Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill both politically and administratively.
In his words, “The death Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye was difficult to believe. I commiserate with the Afuye family and the people of ikere Ekiti and the entire state. May the Lord give everyone of us the fortitude to bear this loss”.
He prayed God to give the family and all those affected the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
