NEW OSOPADEC SECRETARY, ABIKE BAYO-ILAWOLE RESUMES, VOWS TO REPOSITION COMMISSION
The newly appointed Secretary to the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, assumed office at the Commission’s headquarters in Oba-Ile, Akure, at approximately 8:30 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Friday, May 31, 2024, exercised his authority under Section 8 of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) Law, 2003, approving the deployment of Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole as the Secretary of the Commission.
A letter issued and signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, stated that the deployment would take effect from June 3, 2024. However, the new secretary could not assume her duties immediately due to a nationwide strike called by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The strike was called off on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Allen Sowore, addressing the staff who welcomed her on Wednesday morning, Princess Abike expressed gratitude to God Almighty for His grace and mercy. She appreciated the staff for their warm reception and urged them to work with her to reposition the Commission.
“I bear no grudges against anybody. This is not the Princess Abike Ilawole that was posted out some years ago. I am now a new person, better equipped, trained, and refined to take the Commission to its desired position.
“You are all public servants and you know the service rules. I expect you to apply the rules where and when necessary. We shall spare nothing to reposition the Commission,” she said.
She also called for support from friends and associates from other MDAs who witnessed her resumption.
