70TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: YOU ARE A QUINTESSENTIAL MAN OF INTEGRITY AND HONOUR – DR FELIX ALE EXTOLS MIMIKO
The Director of Media and Corporate Communications of the National Space Research and Development Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Felix Ale has described former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko as a man of integrity and honour.
The Oka-Akoko-born Communications Scholar while felicitating the Ondo-born political collosus on his 70th birthday celebration held in Akure the state capital noted that Dr. Mimiko is a very unique personality, an inspiration to the people and a man of his words.
Dr. Ale made reference to the fulfilment of a pledge to him by the former Governor in respect of a big brother on whom he approached Dr Mimiko for support in his quest to becoming a federal legislator.
Dr Ale recalled with nostalgia his several meetings with Dr Mimiko both in Akure and Abuja in the actualisation of this dream, saying Dr Mimiko did not only fulfill his promise to him but supported the person to clinch the ticket of the party and gave the required legitimate support and assistance for his victory in the election.
In Ale’s words, ” Dr. Mimiko in one particular day during my visit to Akure from Abuja personally put a telephone call across to me while making some financial transaction in a commercial Bank at Alagbaka and requested that I come with my big brother to his residence in Ondo City in the evening of that faithful day.On arrival in his house, Dr Mimiko recalled some of my previous meetings with him and re-echoed his decision right in the presence of my big brother to honor his pledge to me on the issue as solicited through his legitimate support”.
“A day After our historic meeting at Ondo,Mimiko swung into action in fulfilment of his pledged support, crystalizing into my big brother getting the ticket after the primary, won the election in a landslide victory and spent twelve years in the Senate of the federal Republic of Nigeria with outstanding record of achievements”, the communications scholar stressed.
“A lot is said about politicians but I can say it anywhere that Dr. Olusegun Abayomi Mimiko is a rare being with great qualities and reference point for integrity, honour and loyalty to friendship regardless of age”.
Dr Ale maintained that he will forever cherish and appreciate Dr Olusegun Mimiko for his impeccable character as a pride to humanity and enviable track record of achievements in the cause of his romance with destiny.
“His administration in Ondo State featured numerous programmes and policies that attracted both national and international recognition as he made the common man the key point of his administration”.
According to Dr. Ale, Mimiko’s health policy did not only reduce drastically maternal and infant mortality rate but also turned Ondo State to a Mecca of sort for pregnant women as beneficiaries and global organisations as partners.
“The Abiye Safe Motherhood programme led to birth of thousands of babies at no cost through the Mother and Child Hospitals in Akure and Ondo City as well as all other health facilities across the state”, Ale stated.
The NASRDA Spokesman also made reference to the School Free Shuttle service that transports about 90,000 school children across the state on a daily basis to and fro school at no cost to their parents, saying the gesture defines a man with genuine caring heart.
According to the communication expert, Dr Mimiko’s tenure as the executive Governor of Ondo State for eight remarkable years stands as a beacon of exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the people.
Dr Ale maintained that the recorded milestones are testament to a life dedicated to service, integrity and the betterment of society in the Sunshine State.
He further explained that Mimiko’s journey from a dedicated medical Doctor to a very distinguished Politician is a narrative of resilience, passion and unyielding desire to serve humanity.
According to him, the ability of the former Governor to navigate the complexities of governance with integrity and a unique sense of purpose has earned him the respect and admiration of many,both within and beyond the borders of Ondo State.
