ONDO POLL: ODIEC VOWS TO CONDUCT CREDIBLE ELECTION DESPITE PDP WITHDRAWAL FROM EXERCISE
Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Joseph Aremo has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to ensuring that Saturday local government elections in the state is free, fair, and credible.
Conducting Journalists and officials of political parties round sensitive materials at the commission’s headquarters in Akure, Dr. Aremo assured that all necessary arrangements have been made, with the materials intact and ready for the polls.
He stressed that the election date remains sacrosanct irrespective of the withdrawal of the major opposition party, PDP.
Necessary arrangements to ensure success of the exercise have put in place including distribution of non-sensitive materials to each local government.
Chairman of the commission, Dr. Joseph Aremo said all necessary arrangements have been made as materials are intact for the elections.
Dr Aremo also said withdrawal of the People’s Democratic Party from the exercise would not deter the Commission from going ahead with the election.
He noted that PDP alongside 12 others that participated in trainings and sensitization exercises organized by ODIEC, commended the commission’s transparent preparations.
Dr. Aremo further pledged to collaborate with security agencies and other election stakeholders to ensure smooth, peaceful, and credible election.
