ODSG PARTNERS COMMONWEALTH WOMEN NETWORK TO ACQUIRE 10,000 HECTARES OF LAND FOR AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES
…As Aiyedatiwa’s Aide on Agribusiness, Wemimo Akinsola visits Akotogbo and Iyansan Monarchs in readiness for project implementation
In furtherence to driving Agricultural development, enhancing productivity and ensuring that farmers have the necessary support to thrive, the Senior Special Assistant to Mr Governor on Agribusiness Mr Wemimo Akinsola has stated that about 10,000 hectares of land would be needed by the state government in collaboration with Commonwealth Women Network at Akotogbo and Iyansan in the Southern Senatorial Districts of the state for agricultural development.
Mr Akinsola explained this during an official visit to the palaces of Larogbo of Akotogbo, HRM Oba Micheal Akinfolarin and the Laragunsin of Iyansan kingdom, Oba Akinyomi Olasehinde in Irele Local Government Area of the state.
The Senior Special Assistant explained that the program which would be in stages would involve all agricultural value chains, from planting, processing, packaging of different farm produce, animals husbandry and other agricultural activities.
“The State government is fully ready in partnership with the Commonwealth Women Network to turn the entire area into agricultural activities towards ensuring food security in line with the present administration’s policy.”

According to him, Aiyedatiwa led administration would turn the entire area into an agricultural hub which he said would increase food production for export and local consumption and provide jobs opportunities for teaming youths across the state.
He, therefore, solicited for cooperation of the Traditional Rulers, youths and other stakeholders in the areas for the success of the program.
In his own remarks, the Commonwealth Women Network representative, Mr Niba Ngwa stated that the soil test has been carried out for agricultural activities and the result was encouraging.
Mr Ngwa, who expressed optimism that the project would touch the life of the people in the area in particular and the State in general, appealed for total cooperation of the people
The Balogun of Akotogbo land, Chief Akinmutola Mechark, who spoke on behalf of Larogbo of Akotogbo, Oba Micheal Akinfolarin, stated that the community is ready to release land for the commencement of the project, however, appealed for the State government to ensure proper documentation and procedures are follow for the acquisition of the land.
On his own part, the Laragunsin of Iyansan kingdom, Oba Akinyomi Olasehinde promised to deliberate and discuss the matter with his chief and other stakeholders in the community.
He expressed gratitude to the State government for locating the project in his domain.
