
NASRDA SPOKESMAN, FELIX ALE EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE IN AIYEDATIWA’S ABILITY TO MAKE DIFFERENCE
… The Communication Scholar urges the Governor to ensure assent for the Federal University of Aerospace and Aeronautics Oka-Akoko
The Director, Media and Corporate Communications of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA)Dr. Felix Ale has expressed confidence in the ability of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to justify the confidence reposed in him by the great people of Ondo State.
The NASRDA Spokesman in a special congratulatory message on the occasion of inauguration of Honourable Aiyedatiwa said the experience garnered over the years as deputy governor, acting governor and substantive Governor would play significant roles in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
While noting that Aiyedatiwa emergence as Governor of the Sunshine State is God-ordained, the Ondo State-born Communication Scholar and distinguished Media Practitioner urged him to explore all available opportunities that would attract development to every nook and cranny of the Sunshine State.
In his words, “I am aware that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has the requisite knowledge and wherewithal to justify the confidence reposed in him and I am sure that the state will witness rapid development during his tenure”.
“The Governor should work with Ondo State indigenes in various relevant government Ministries , Departments and Agencies at the federal level as many opportunities abound through which the citizens and the state could benefit”.
“It is clear that many states, especially in the northern part of the country network with their indigenes in the government Ministries, Departments and Agencies irrespective of levels and positions.
The strategies according to Dr Ale have been working in their favour in different sectors as most Governors have taken advantage of these to compliment their efforts through relevant programmes and projects to positively impact the lives of people in their states.
The Media Scholar made reference to the University of Aerospace and Aeronautics proposed for Oka-Akoko whose bill has been passed by the National Assembly and only waiting for assent of the President.
“I urge Governor Aiyedatiwa to use his good offices to network with relevant stakeholders to make the University of Aerospace and Aeronautics proposed for Oka-Akoko a reality and this would be the first in Nigeria and Africa”.
“What is required to actualize this dream which I considered as a great benefit to the Sunshine State is assent of the President and I am confident that with Honourable Lucky Aiyedatiwa as Governor of Ondo State, he will make history with the establishment of this great institution”, the Communication Scholar said.
Dr Ale who is one of the pioneer researchers into Space Journalism at PhD level in Africa explained that the proposed University is a great platform to showcase the Sunshine State and Nigeria in the international community for strategic partnership and collaboration with institutions and countries around the world in the critical area of Space Science and Technology.
According to him, it is a great and potential institution for manpower development in the core areas of Space engineering, astronomy and satellite development among others which are today core determinants for innovation and Technological model for radical development in any human society.
He said the proposed University which is first in Africa is capable of fostering more research and innovation for advancement in Space Technology and Exploration in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.
Dr Ale pointed out that the development of the space ecosystem is key as the global Space Economy is projected to grow to $1.8 trillion by 2035.Hence the rat race for Space Science and Technology development by various countries across the globe.
The African space economy according to him is also projected to grow by 16.16percent to $22.64 billion by 2026.
He maintained that space and satellite technology by all ramifications are today pillars of modern society, adding that space technology holds immense potentials for socio-economic development and future survival of any nation.
Dr Ale emphasized that establishment of such a strategic institution dedicated to tackling many of the world’s challenges through Space research and application is a great blessing as this will further strengthen the position of Ondo State and Nigeria at large in the global community as critical stakeholder in the space sector.
This he explained remains a unique opportunity that should not elude an intellectually endowed community like the Sunshine State.
Dr Ale emphasized the need for all hands to be on deck with Governor Aiyedatiwa taking the lead to ensure the Presidential assent in due course for the establishment of this great institution in Oka Akoko,Ondo State as contained in the bill already passed by members of parliament of the federal republic of Nigeria.
“I appeal to our amiable Governor to strategically swing into action by leveraging on the already deployed instrument of the act of Parliament in the realization of this lofty idea of establishing this novel institution for the greatness of Ondo State and overall development of our dear country.”
Dr Ale therefore appealed to the good people of Ondo State, especially the public servants to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to enable him deliver on his promises for the overall development of the Sunshine State.
