A NEW DAWN IN ONDO STATE WITH LUCKY AIYEDATIWA
By Kikelomo Isijola
A new dawn beckons in Ondo State, as Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa takes the oath of office as the 7th democratically elected governor today in Akure.
As it is customary of this type of epoch making event, the people of the state and indeed, the general public, both local and global audience will be treated to a colourful event.
The swearing in ceremony of Governor Aiyedatiwa slated for Monday 24th February 2025 promises to be another historic event in the annals of the state.
Governor Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Olajide Adelami will be inaugurated amidst pomp and ceremony.
A cursory review of developmental programmes and projects under Governor Aiyedatiwa in the one year in office will certainly prove cynics wrong.
In the last one year, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated the wisdom in Henry Newman dictum in almost all spheres.
Our Lucky has in the past one year connected significantly with the grass roots through his developmental projects.
He demonstrates that he is worker-friendly through meeting their welfare and sundry needs including promotion and clearing of their backlog of unpaid salaries and pension arrears.
To lessen the impact of fuel subsidy removal on workers, the governor approved monthly palliative allowance for all public workers.
He approved N73,000 as the new minimum wage for workers at a time many states are still dilly dallying. He spared thoughts for those in the informal sector, including struggling entrepreneurs, petty traders, artisans, and peasant farmers, by approving over N2 billion as soft loans, which they can assess to grow their ventures.
Under his stewardship, he has deliberately focused on Infrastructural development, Public Utilities Renewal, Agricultural Production increment, Entrepreneurship and Youth Development, Job Creation and Security.
In view of his achievements and many more giant strides, Aiyedatiwa’s coming to be preceded with an inaugural ceremony should excite all progressive- minded people. While elaborate plans have been made to make the occasion colorful and unique, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa again patiently awaits the historic moment to re-launch himself as the selfless patriot who is an harbinger of good tidings to his people.
On the 24th February, all lovers of history, all lovers of development will watch out for yet another historic and prophetic pronouncement from no other person than Orimisan himself. It is an auspicious occasion for a great expectation that certainly goes beyond the hollow ritual of oath taking.
It will be a new dawn as ‘OUR EASE’, the 7-point agenda for the 7th elected Governor of Ondo State, will begin to manifest.
No one will be left behind on account of their social status, gender or age; Lucky has designed policies and programmes to ensure that everyone is carried along and catered for.
