EASTER CELEBRATION:
NIGERIAN ECONOMIC CHALLENGES A SET BACK TO MISSIONARY WORK –OLOGUNWA
As the world celebrates the glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, Nigerians are faced with various challenges that test their faith in God.
The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter, Very Rev. Fr. Anselm Olorunfemi Ologunwa made the declaration in his Easter message in Akure.
A statement by the Director information and communications of the association, Daisi Ajayi said the challenges include, persecution, religious conflicts, attack and kidnapping that create fear everywhere.
According to the chairman, Nigeria’s economy has greatly affected churches and made it difficult for christians to practice generosity and support missionary work.
Fr Ologunwa said,
“moral value decline on a daily basis while respect for culture is gradually being compromised as people struggle with maintaining their faith amidst secular ideologies and lifestyles”.
The chairman said, Easter celebrations remind us that true faith is not about external appearances but about a deep, personal relationship with God.
“In celebrating Easter, we are reminded of the true meaning of sacrifice as Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was not about dehumanizing or oppressing others but about redeeming humanity from sin and its consequences”
The religious leader tasked government at all levels to continue to prioritise the welfare of its citizens, and ensure that their actions promote human dignity and well-being.
He said they should embark upon Comprehensive Economy Development policies that promote inclusive growth, job creation, and reduce dependency on volatile commodities and invest in sectors that create sustainable employment opportunities for the citizens.
Fr. Ologunwa also called on Nigeria leaders to demonstrate integrity in their governance, ensuring that their actions are guided by principles of justice, fairness, and compassion.
The chairman affirmed that he’s optimistic that through unity, strategic evangelism, youth engagement, and community involvement, Nigeria can overcome her challenges and thrive in faith and influence.
“May this Easter season bring renewal, restoration, and rejuvenation to our spirit”.
