CHILDREN’S DAY: OSE COUNCIL BOSS KOLAPO OJO ASSURES OF RENEWED COMMITMENT TO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
The 2025 Children’s Day celebration in Ose Local Government Area witnessed a colorful, purposeful, and inspiring gathering under the distinguished leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Barr. Kolapo Ojo, who championed the event with a resonant call for renewed commitment to youth development and child welfare.
Addressing a lively crowd of schoolchildren, educators, traditional rulers, and parents at the Ekamarun Anglican Grammar School, Hon. Kolapo Ojo described the day as “historic and symbolic,” emphasizing the role of government, community, and families in building a secure and prosperous future for the next generation.
“This day is not just about festivities, it is about reflection, responsibility, and reaffirming our dedication to the children of Ose,” Hon. Ojo stated. “We must continue to create opportunities for growth, learning, and protection of our young ones who are the hope of tomorrow.”
In a practical demonstration of support and encouragement, the Executive Chairman presented cash prizes to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position winners of the inter-school match past competition in both the primary and secondary school categories. The well-applauded initiative was celebrated as a motivation for discipline, excellence, and healthy competition among schools in the area.
Aligning his local agenda with that of the state government, Hon. Ojo commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa for his youth-focused governance, describing him as “a visionary leader who has not only supported child development statewide but has inspired initiatives that we are proud to implement at the grassroots.”
He also outlined several key developmental efforts currently being undertaken in Ose Local Government, including:
* Grading of rural and feeder roads
* Timely and consistent payment of workers’ salaries
* Proposed student transport palliative scheme
* Distribution of palliatives to the indigent and elderly
* Construction of erosion-control drainages
In his message to the children, Hon. Ojo urged them to avoid all forms of antisocial behavior such as cultism, exam malpractice, truancy, and violence. He reminded them that education, discipline, and moral uprightness are the cornerstones of true leadership.
He also addressed parents and guardians, emphasizing their critical role in raising responsible children. Citing both biblical and Yoruba cultural references, he warned that the failure to train a child properly could endanger family and societal legacies.
Teachers received special acknowledgment from the Chairman, who lauded their efforts and encouraged them to remain dedicated to their noble duty of shaping young minds. He called for vigilance in schools and stressed collaboration with security agencies to ensure a safe learning environment.
Hon. Kolapo Ojo concluded his speech by thanking all attendees, stakeholders, and organizing teams for making the celebration successful. He prayed for the children’s continued progress and urged the community to remain united in supporting youth empowerment.
“May today’s celebration strengthen our resolve to raise a generation that will make us proud. God bless Ose Local Government. God bless Ondo State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he declared.
The 2025 Children’s Day Celebration, held at Ekamarun Anglican Grammar School, stands out as a testament to visionary grassroots leadership and a government that places its children at the center of its development strategy.
