
ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED HEADS OF SERVICE AND PERMANENT SECRETARIES URGES COLLABORATION AMONG SOUTHWEST STATES

The location was Association’s Secretariat named after the first Head of Service and Secretary to Ondo State Government, Chief T.A Iwajomo where the retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries from the Southwest Region as well as those still in the service in Ondo State gathered for the Annual General Meeting hosted by Ondo State.
The opening ceremony was presided over Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa while the Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip was in attendance.
In her speech, the Chairman of the Forum in Ondo State, Mrs Mojisola Ajayi said in line with our policy as regards engagement with governance, the associated hosted gubernatorial aspirants from all parties before the last election at the Secretariat-dubbed “The Chatham House of Ondo State” to interrogate their visions for the state.
“In her words, we submitted a detailed policy report to the current administration, offering actionable strategies to enhance revenue generation and optimize state assets”.
Mrs Ajayi also used the opportunity to call for regional collaboration among the Southwest States, noting that the achievements being recorded in the area of security indicates that other sectors can be focused on in the interest of the generality of the people.
“Permit me to state that Regional collaboration is sine- qua-non for development and transformation. The success of the South West Security Network (Amotekun) proves what our region can achieve through unity”.
“Let us replicate this model in: Transportation (integrated transit systems), Education (harmonized curricula and shared resources), Healthcare (joint emergency response and specialist exchanges), Infrastructure (regional rail/road networks), Rural development (agricultural cooperatives), Food security and Unemployment”.
“Let the same spirit of innovation that birthed Amotekun be channeled into tackling challenges in the identified areas in transportation, education, heathcare, infrastructure development food security, unemployment and youth restiveness”.
The Chairman also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for prioritising welfare of pensioners as well as the infrastructural strides being recorded by his administration.
“We deeply appreciate the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his compassionate and visionary leadership, particularly in prioritizing the welfare of pensioners. His administration’s strides in infrastructure, education, and healthcare exemplify good governance”.
“We also thank the government for its support in hosting this conference, and we reaffirm our commitment to partnering on all laudable developmental programmes”.
In his words, the Regional President of the Association, Dr. Ebenezer Okebukola expressed appreciation to the Governors in the region for identifying with the association.
Addressing the gathering, the Ondo State Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip said the state is working on deploying Artificial Intelligence in the public service.
While noting that the process of digitising the service is in progress, the Head of Service said the move would improve service delivery.
While stressing that Aiyedatiwa-led administration has promoted till date with cash backing, he said the Contributory Health Commission is providing health insurance for thousands of public servants.
There were also goodwill messages by the Chairman of Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State, Chief Bunmi Alade and Barrister Stephen Akinrinsola.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa said the permanent secretaries have been instrumental to the success stories in the public service in the state.
“Your members have played roles in shaping policy formulation and transformative development in the entire southwest”.
The Governor who noted that the public service is doing well in the state commended President Bola Tinubu for championing economic reforms in the country.
Aiyedatiwa who took time to analyse the various interventions being carried out by his administration assured that structures have been put in place to sustain the efforts and also improve on them.
He said the memorandum of understanding Signed between the state and Backbone International to develop refinery would provide 30,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect employment
While reflecting on the recent commencement of housing project for cabinet members, the Governor assured that same gesture works be extended to house of assembly members and civil servants.
The event ended with the emergence of new executive members for the association.
