ENGINEERS CHARGED TO RENEW COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), Akure Chapter, has called on engineers to renew their commitment to national development.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Chapter, Engr. Adedokun Adeyemi Adeyonu, congratulated Nigerians on the milestone and emphasized the crucial role engineers play in the nation’s progress and industrialization.
According to him, ” Engineers Must Become Problem-Solvers and must move beyond complaints and become active to problem-solvers, using their skills and expertise to guide the government in formulating sustainable policies, particularly in the power sector.

“We must rise to guide the nation toward practical, lastingg solutions that will permanently address our power challenges,” he said.
Championing Innovation and Ethical Standards
Engr. Adeyonu urged engineers to champion innovation, research, and collaboration to build a self-sustaining energy system for the country. He also called for a collective effort to stop quackery in the profession and promote ethical standards.
True Independence Through Collective Effort
Engr. Adeyonu reminded members that true independence is more than political freedom; it is the collective ability of citizens to solve national problems through creativity, discipline, and hard work.
“Let us use this 65th Independence Anniversary to rededicate ourselves to building the Nigeria we desire,” he said. “Let the change begin with us as patriotic, competent, and visionary engineers.”
The NIEEE, Akure Chapter, wishes Nigerians a happy 65th Independence Anniversary, with the hope that collective efforts will continue to illuminate the path to progress and national transformation.
