ONDO ENERGY COMMISSIONER ALABI RECEIVES AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN ENERGY DEVELOPMENT
The Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Jaiyeola Alabi has been honoured wIth the award of Excellence in Energy Development as a testament to his commitment in transforming and advancing the Energy and Mineral resources sector in Ondo State.
The distinguished recognition was given to him by the Faculty of Engineering Technology, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo,(RUGIPO) today, during the 3rd International Conference organized by the Faculty themed: “Engineering Innovation for a Sustainable Security System”.
Speaking with newsmen after receiving the honor, he expressed gratitude for the recognition saying that his career journey started from a polytechnic and that he felt proud to be honored by a polytechnic of such caliber.
He commended the organizers, saying the topic was carefully chosen considering that it affects current happenings in the country today “ Security has become a major challenge in Nigeria and awareness is highly important; The topic today has clearly addressed it and I believe that this kind of lecture should be taught frequently so as to raise the consciousness of every Nigerian”, he said.
Keynote address presenter, Engr. Kehinde Temikotan, in his lecture gave an introduction on the current paradigm of security. He also spoke on the nature and evolution of security threats; The future of security systems; Implications for Engineering education and concluded by giving viable recommendations for stakeholders.
He implored people to take security as not just a means of protection, but as a way of preservation for human life, liberty and the planet.
Lead paper presenter, Engr. Dr. Stephen Ibijola, spoke about the essence of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) for future dependency. He also highlighted pillars of sustainability as social, environmental and economic pointers and called for integration with digital and cyber security systems.
According to him, addressing technical and socio-economic challenges with inter-disciplinary collaborations would ensure that sustainable security systems meet present and future demands.
In his goodwill message, the Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, represented by the Olupenme of Ipeme, Oba Samuel Daramola, implored Engineers to digress from constant paper research and become more practical in their quest for newer outcomes.
According to a statement signed by the Information Officer in the ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Debbie Funmilayo, high point of the event was presentation of Awards to deserving personalities in honor of their exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment, innovation and development both in academics and the society.

Ibidapo Ojo; The Acting rector RUGIPO, Dr. Olorunwa Adegun; Dean, Faculty of Engineering Technology, Engr. Samuel Adepo; Chairman Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Oluwaseun Adeleye, Oloba of Uso, Engr. (Dr.) Ademola Oyinbade and other royal fathers among others.
