We Are Expanding Our Research Frontiers, Collaborating with Six Countries – Elizade University VC Oguntunde
The Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Philip Oguntunde, has announced that the institution is broadening its research frontiers through strategic international collaborations spanning six countries, with a strong focus on advancing solutions aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Professor Oguntunde made this known while receiving a delegation from the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), who paid him a courtesy visit. He expressed appreciation for what he described as a show of solidarity and goodwill, noting that Elizade University is actively exploring research partnerships with universities in Spain, Germany, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and other countries.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the University’s renewed research drive is strategically targeted at addressing critical global and local challenges encapsulated within the SDGs’ thematic areas.
He emphasized that expanded research collaboration, particularly across institutions, is essential to delivering sustainable solutions to pressing societal problems, not only in developing nations but across the globe.
Professor Oguntunde also extended a hand of partnership to FUTA, proposing deeper collaboration in research programmes that cut across the 17 SDG thematic areas.
He noted that synergy between institutions with shared academic visions would significantly strengthen innovation, knowledge exchange, and impactful community engagement.
Leading the FUTA delegation, Professor Richard Falayi, Head of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, described Professor Oguntunde as an erudite scholar whose influence continues to resonate positively across academia.
He stated that the visit was aimed at reaffirming their unalloyed support for the Vice-Chancellor in his leadership of Elizade University.
In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor also received seven Heads of Departments from FUTA’s School of Infrastructure, Minerals and Manufacturing Engineering.
The team, led by former FUTA Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aremu Akintunde, assured him of their collective support in advancing the core mandates of teaching, research and community service.
Professor Akintunde described Professor Oguntunde as “a precious brand” whom the entire FUTA community is proud of, adding that both institutions stand to benefit immensely from strengthened teaching and research collaboration for the greater good of society.
The engagements signal a renewed era of academic partnership and research expansion for Elizade University, positioning the institution as an emerging hub for impactful, globally connected scholarship.
