The fear of Anyichuks in Ebonyi Politics

Onyeka Nnabu writes that the 2027 governorship ambition of Dr Chukwuma Ifeanyi Odii, popularly known as Anyichuks is shaking Ebonyi polity
As the 2027 governorship election draws nearer, the political wave in Ebonyi state has intensified. It’s no longer business as usual for the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state to claim total control of political stronghold in the state.
The second shot for the seat of power in the Salt of the National by the PDP governorship candidate, Dr Odii has sent shivers in the spine of all opponents including the incumbent governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru. Odii’s second coming can not be under rated, hence the heat and tension in the polity.
The 2027 elections in Ebonyi state will send a strong signal, which may definitely begin to redefine the cardinal issue of performance and and good governance. Party politics and consideration have started to fizzle away. The question that determine political support is solely based on performance.
Odii is seriously saying that there was no evidence of governance in the Nwifuru’s administration for the past three years, where government can not claim or even boast to have completed and commissioned any single project. Critics have also analysed that the present contest offered glimmer hope for the Odii’s candidacy to govern Ebonyi state, after throwing the first shot in 2023 against the incumbent.
As a successful businessman and entrepreneur, Odii believes that it takes a lot to be manger of public resources. For the past three years of Nwifuru’s administration, Ebonyi state has been retrogressive, impoverished and underdeveloped.
To worsen the development, all the massive critical infrastructural accomplishments of the last administration of Engr. David Umahi have been abandoned and not maintained. Umahi’s roads, bridges and other structures are collapsing while Nwifuru watches in bewilderment. The state of bad governance has frustrated the efficiencies of ministerial performance.
As it stands now, no noticeable achievement has been recorded by any ministry in Ebonyi state. This is because, Nwifuru assumed office unprepared and lacking in policy directions. One can simply say that Governor Nwifuru doesn’t know what he wants or even if he knows what he wants, he doesn’t no how to achieve it.
This is the situation that has made the hitherto young promising state to suddenly become a laughing stock in the comity of states. At the time of Umahi, Ebonyi was highly rated and adored.
For Odii, a great Ebonyi is achievable under his mandate. The PDP Guber Candidate has known the high demands of good governance in the state and has shown deep commitment and determination to advance the developmental fortunes of the state. This trust is organic, having recorded many philanthropic projects and programmes across the state.
In Ebonyi state, Odii is a household name. His Ebele and Anyichuks foundation has provided much succour and intervened in humanitarian projects than Ebonyi state government can boast currently. How sojourn into politics, was a clarion call by Ebonyi people to come and lead them out of the mess which the present government has placed the people.
The unique advantage.of Anyichuks remains the fact that he is ready to fix Ebonyi state, revamp and revive all the sectors of the economy. With his contacts and connections, it is believed that Odii’s government will attract private sector investment to the state.
