ACF Fires Back At Akeredolu On Zoning Of Presidency To South

The pan-Northern socio-political organization, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), yesterday came hard on Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and other southerners for insisting that the 2023 president must come from the Southern part of the country.
The Forum argued that the North had ruled only ten out of the 22 years in the “Nigerian fourth Democratic Republic” which started 1999 to date.
Although no mention was made of Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, by the ACF, the forum insisted that the region must not be cowed into submission over the 2023 presidency.
Akeredolu had earlier warned the All Progressives Congress against zoning the 2023 presidential slot to the north, saying that not zoning the presidency to the south might cause the crisis.
But the ACF through its Secretary-General, Malam Murtala Aliyu in a statement titled: ‘Enough of the blackmail’ in Kaduna said the North won’t tolerate the subtle blackmail and intimidation from southerners.
The forum noted that there was no moral logic on part of southerners insisting that the presidency must be zoned to them, adding that after all, the north had ruled only ten out of the 22 years in “Nigeria’s Fourth Democratic Republic”
The ACF warned southern politicians against issuing threats or ultimatum as regards where the next Nigeria president would be zoned to, saying that “the North is not and has never been opposed to the election of any Nigerian from any part of the country as President.”
