ACTIVITIES IN TOP GEAR AS PRESIDENT TINUBU SET TO INAUGURATE OTAKIKPO CRUDE OIL TERMINAL IN RIVERS STATE
Activities are already in top gear for the unveiling of the first indigenous onshore crude oil terminal in Nigeria.
The facility was built by Green Energy International Limited, the Operator of the Otakikpo Marginal Field
(OML 11) in Ikuru Town, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The project is coming on stream 50 years after the last one built by expatriates, Forcados Terminal was unveiled in 1971.
Already the various communities making up the area which include Ayama-Ekede, Asuk-Oye, Asuk-Ama, Agama-Ekede and Ikuru are in a celebration mood, considering the fact that history is being made on their soil.
Apart from the influx of various stakeholders into the area, the various components of the commissioning ceremony have begun to be felt in the area.
In a statement by the Executive Director of Legal and Corporate Services, Olusegun Ilori, Esq, the project is to be presided over by President Bola Tinubu while while the Rivers State Governor, Simnalayi Fubara would be in attendance just as the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri will be the Special Guest of Honour.
Meanwhile, in an interview granted earlier, the Chairman of Green Energy International Limited, Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe said the Onshore Crude Oli Terminal was conceptualized to solve the various challenges being faced in the oil sector of the country.

He said the facility represents a major breakthrough for indigenous participation in the oil and gas industry.
The chairman also emphasized that the achievement also underlines the present administration’s success in restoring investors’ confidence in Nigeria’s energy sector.
The Otakikpo Terminal stands as proof that with right leadership, Nigeria can reclaim its position as Africa’s energy powerhouse”, he added.
