ADEPOJU HIGHLIGHTS MEDIA ROLE IN SHOWCASING NASRDA’S NOVEL PROJECTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has emphasized that the media remains the most impactful and reliable tool for the Space Agency to showcase its groundbreaking achievements to the public.
He made this remark during a special event organized by the Media and Corporate Communications Department of the Agency, to celebrate the successes recorded by the department in the past year.
Dr. Adepoju pointed out that the Media department’s coverage of his administration since his assumption of office has elevated the Agency’s reputation and kept the public well-informed about its activities.
He added that agencies that were once difficult to engage, now eagerly seek collaboration with NASRDA, as a result of the increased visibility provided by the media.
The NASRDA Helmsman who called on members of staff of the department to remain dedicated to the progress and development of the Agency also encouraged them to keep up the good work and derive joy from doing their jobs.
Dr Adepoju emphasized that hard work is rewarded with more responsibility and encouraged the Media staff to remain dedicated, teachable, and accountable to leadership.
The NASRDA boss who announced that training opportunities would be available this year to media department, encouraged staff to give their best to qualify for the Agency’s capacity-building initiatives.
The Director General explained that the proposed NSTITV is still under development and urged staff to remain committed and ready to deliver their best when it becomes operational.
He, however, noted that the Agency’s management team is working diligently behind the scene to launch NSTITV sooner than expected.
Dr Adepoju also presented awards to Mr. Wale Abiodun, a retiree of the department for his laudable service to the Agency and Miss Ninma Yacim for being the most outstanding media staff of the year.
Speaking earlier, the Director, Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, commended the NASRDA boss for his outstanding performance and disposition towards the media since assumption of office, saying that public inquiries and questions have decreased as the Agency’s activities now effectively speak for itself through the media.
He said the Agency has been receiving commendations because all its activities and achievements are in the public domain.
Dr. Ale however assured the Director General of the department’s support in complementing his efforts towards the realisation of the Nigerian Space Programme.
According to a statement signed by Grace Jacob of the department, the Director Media and Corporate Communications further explained that the purpose of the meeting was to appreciate the staff, bid farewell to a retiring team member, Mr. Wale Abiodun and present an award to the most outstanding staff member of the year.
He showered encomiums on Mr. Wale Abiodun for his remarkable contributions during his time with the Agency and extended his best wishes for his future endeavors.
The media expert also commended Ninma Yacim, who received the award for Best Media Staff of the Year 2024, encouraging her to continue striving for excellence.
Dr Ale encouraged staff members to build a legacy of hard work, productivity, and excellence that will leave a lasting impression long after their time at the Agency.
Also speaking, the Director, Strategic Space Applications, Dr. Godstime James spoke on the importance of Media roles in publicizing the various activities of the Agency.
According to him the work done by scientists and engineers cannot be properly acknowledged by the public if the media do not talk about it.
Dr. James stated that the agency’s recent publicity efforts played a key role in achieving its current giant strides and positive perception of its programs and projects by Nigerians.
He encouraged the Department to continue fostering goodwill for the agency among Nigerians.
