AFE BABALOLA DAY:
EMMANUEL PRY SCHOOL ADO-EKITI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FELICITATES ABUAD FOUNDER
“It is on record that Emmanuel Primary School is the only formal school attended by Aare before getting other thirteen degrees and has always made reference to the role the school played in his life.”
The members of Alumni Association of Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Ado-Ekiti have felicitated one of them, Aare Afe Babalola on the pronouncement of October 18 every year as Afe Babalola Day by the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe.
The development is part of efforts to recognise the leadership and communal roles of the Founder of one of the best tertiary institutions in Nigeria and Africa in facilitating all-round development of the fast-developing state capital.
In a statement, the Global Convener of the group, Mr. Remi Alo described the prominent old pupil of the school as a rallying point for the association, noting his numerous roles when the 120th anniversary of the school was held in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr. Alo said Aare Afe Babalola had been a great encouragement to the existence of the association, Ado-Ekiti and Ekiti State in general.
While commending the Ewi-In-Council and the entire Ado-Ekiti sons and daughters for honouring Aare Afe Babalola for his numerous contributions to the development of the state capital as well as the state in general, Alo called on other privileged Indigenes to take a cue from the pace set by the ABUAD founder.
In his contributions, Spokesman of the Alumni Association, Mr. Seun Adetola went memory lane on how Aare Afe Babalola supported the take-off of the group and his involvement in making the 120th anniversary a reality.
“We went to Baba who gave us all the necessary support and even began the process of giving back to the school by building a befitting structure in his name to add value to the school that made him.”
“It is however unfortunate that the then Bishop C.T Omotunde who has agreed to release the land for the project eventually denied us the land and Baba could not go ahead with the project.”
“That was after Baba had laid the foundation of the project as reported in national dailies and broadcast stations.”
“Baba’s classmates in the school include Dr. Christopher Kolade and Madam Ereola Adu(nee Emmanuel) of blessed memory.”
“It is on record that Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Ado-Ekiti is the only formal school attended by Aare before getting other thirteen degrees and has always made reference to the role the school played in his life.”
“We are glad to identify with one of us and our pillar of support Aare Afe Babalola on this recognition that’s being celebrated globally and we pray that heavens will keep presiding over his affairs in good health.”
