AIYEDATIWA APPROVES N2.5B FOR PAYMENT OF ANOTHER TRANCHE OF BULK GRATUITY ARREARS OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT RETIREES AND PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS
As part of efforts to cushion the effect of hardship and make life easier for retirees in the state, the Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved 2.5 Billion Naira for the bulk payment of Gratuity Arrears of Local Government Retirees and Primary School Teachers.
This 4th tranche which covers those that retired in 2013, will be flagged off at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s office on Friday 14th February 2025.
Mr Oladele Adesanmi, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs who made this disclosure recalled that the Aiyedatiwa led administration inherited backlog of Gratuity arrears, out of which three tranches, covering 2009 to 2012 had been paid enbloc.
The Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Permanent Secretary explained that 2.5 Billion Naira has been set aside to pay a large chunk of these categories of workers, either living or dead.
According to a statement signed by Abooluwa Famakinwa, Head, Media and Publicity Unit, Min. Of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the permanent secretary reiterated government commitment to embarking on more meaningful and impact full programmes that will make life better for the people.
