Aiyedatiwa at Odigbo Day, Commends Community for Promoting Rich Cultural Heritage
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state has lauded the people of Odigbo kingdom in Odigbo council area of the state for promoting the vibrant and diverse cultural heritage of the black race through carnivals.
The governor gave the commendation at the 2024 Odigbo day celebration, held on Saturday.
Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor said the celebration has created a unique platform to showcase culture of the people.
He commended the Orunja of Odigbo kingdom, Oba Rufus Akinrinmade, for his efforts at uniting the community and emplacing peaceful co-existence among the people.
“The Odigbo Day celebration is a platform through which our people bond together, map out strategic plans for development and promote their rich culture.
“I must commend the Kabiyesi, launchers of today and all sons and daughters of the kingdom for their cooperation and foresight in launching a seven hundred million naira development fund.
“You are indeed our government’s partners and we shall support you in the quest to make Odigbo greater. I urge you to exercise your civic right and ensure you vote for our party in the November 16 election for progress and continuity” the governor remarked.
In his opening address, Oba Akinrinmade called on all sons and daughters of the kingdom to give back to the community to enable it achieve it’s set target.
He said the community’s effort to raise funds for the development of Odigbo is in line with the agenda of the Aiyedatiwa-led government to make life worth living for the people.
On his part, House of Representative member for Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo federal constituency, Hon Festus Adefinraye promised his support for the monarch and the town in critical areas.
Speaking with journalists at the event, a prominent chief in the kingdom, the Bobaselu of Odigbo, Akindele Omole, appreciated the governor for gracing the event, adding that Ondo state is lucky to have the current administration continue in office beyond 2025.
