Aiyedatiwa Attends 2024 Igogo Festival, Says Tourism Key to Economic Growth
The governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said his administration is leveraging tourism as a catalyst for economic growth.
Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor made the statement during the 2024 Igogo festival in Owo, on Tuesday.
Igogo, an annual festival celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Owo people in Ondo state, reached its climax on Tuesday, as sons and daughters of the kingdom gathered at the palace of the Olowo, beautifully dressed, mostly in white traditional attires as they embarked on a procession, led by the king, round the town.
The governor acknowledged the significant role of any festival as a driver of the economy and a unifier that will be passed on to generations.
He said, “Through tourism and festival like Igogo festival, people from all walks of life will come to Ondo state to see for themselves how economically viable the state is.
“This is one of the reasons we are hosting world’s largest entrepreneurship festival in Ondo state this November. We are expecting over 200 investors and the state is ready to receive them and showcase the best of our potentials”
The governor congratulated the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, and the entire Owo people for a successful outing, asking for more unity among the people.
