…Lion(Prof) Ayokanmi Dada Emerges Club’s 39th President
The Ondo State Governor, Hon(Dr) Lucky Aiyedatiwa has assured that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of the people of the state irrespective of location.
The Governor was addressing members of the Akure Owena Lions Club at the official presentation of Lion Professor Adekunle Dada as the 39th President of the Club in Akure the state capital.
The event also witnessed the installation of other club officers as well as 75 million naira find raising luncheon towards the club’s projects.
The Governor said the mantra of his administration tagged “Our Ease” was designed around various interventionist programmes and policies geared towards making lives more meaningful for the residents, especially the vulnerable.
Aiyedatiwa who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti stressed that his administration remains committed to creating avenues to work with relevant stakeholders to impart positively on the lives of the people.
“Ours is a compassionate administration, this has been the guiding principle behind “OUR EASE” mantra and this is reflected in all our interventionist programmes, be it healthcare, education, rural development, or social welfare, we have always placed the dignity of the human person at the centre of our actions”.
“From our Contributory Health Insurance Scheme to grassroots empowerment initiatives and interventions for the elderly, we are driven by a simple but profound belief: Leadership and governance must be carried out with empathy”.
“We are also intensifying efforts towards diversifying our economy from a civil service dominated economy to an industrial economy. Works are at an advanced stage on the commencement of our Port Ondo project and exploration of our large deposits of bitumen, amongst others”.
Aiyedatiwa described the award as a challenge to keep playing his part in the development of the land and the people.
“I wish to place it on record that this award to me is a call for more service, I accept this award today, with renewed commitment to continue to lead with compassion and to serve the good people of Ondo State to the best of my ability. I wish to equally congratulate other awardees on their part. We all have it as a duty to contribute our quota to the growth and development of our communities and the State at large”.
The Governor used the occasion to call on the new President and other stakeholders to strengthen partnership with corporate organisations and government at all levels towards realising the objectives of the charity organisation.
“Let me use this opportunity to call on the new President and members of Akure-Owena Lions Club to continue to deepen your outreach, strengthen your partnerships with corporate organisations, civil society groups and government at all levels towards making enduring impacts in our various communities in the State. Together, let us build a society where compassion is our guiding principle”.
In his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, the Conservator-General of the National Park Service in Abuja, Dr. Ibrahim Goni expressed joy that the Lions Club has continued to justify the confidence reposed in it as a charity organisation.
Similarly, Guest Speaker, Prof Francis Igbasan who is the Vice Chancellor of McPherson University in Ogun State urged the Club to keep creating more avenues than could enable less privileged and the vulnerable to benefit from the programmes of the organisation.
The highlight of the event was the passing of the baton from the out-gone President, Lion(Otunba) Akinola Falusi Mabolosirin to the new President, Lion(Prof) Ayokanmi Dada as moderated by PDG Dr. Kofoworola Jegede.
In his acceptance speech, the new President said he is prepared to build on the successes of the Club and take its service to new heights.
This, he stressed would include expanding its reach, strengthening its projects and also engage the communities.
