AIYEDATIWA CHARGES ONDO NIGERIAN LEGION ON UNITY OF PURPOSE AS NEW EXECUTIVES EMERGE
The Nigerian Legion, Ondo state has inaugurated its new executive members
The new executive led by the Chairman, Retired Major Folorunso Akingboju and the vice president Warrant Officer Banjo Alabi Stephen and the area council chairman across the eighteen local government areas
Performing the ceremony in Akure, the Representative of the Minister of Defence, Mr Atibeere Samuel, commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the state legion during the election process.
Mr Atibeere appreciated the Ondo State Governor for his support of the retired officers who had served the nation meritoriously and charged them to be proactive under the new dispensation.
In his welcome address, the Ondo state Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, spoke about the peaceful atmosphere, for his leadership to strive in the state, in ensuring that the needs of the people across the state are provided.
The Governor who was represented by the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Dr Seun Osamaye said his administration had created an enabling environment and improved infrastructure, education, the health sector, and road infrastructure,
Empowerment and skills for women, unprecedented attention to the children, elderly and vulnerable in Ondo state.
The Governor also appreciated the outgoing chairman of the organisation, Colonel Olu Apata for his peaceful leadership saying the election that ushered in the new leadership was a testament to their dedication, leadership and commitment to the Nigerian Legion
He expressed confidence that leadership’s vision, passion and expertise will guide them towards greater heights.
Governor Aiyedatiwa charged them to work together to empower members, to foster growth and development.
The Governor called for the promotion of unity, solidarity and inclusivity, in celebrating the diversity and strength of the nation
He promised that the state government would continue to prioritise the welfare of the legions to build a formidable and bright future for the organisation.
In her acceptance speech, the new chairman of the organisation in Ondo state, Retired Major Folorunso Akingboju, appreciated the Ondo state government for creating an enabling environment for the legions to thrive and promised his commitment to ensure unity of purpose and accountability.
Retired Major Akingboju appreciated the Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Dr Seun Osamaye for their support and commitment to the organisation
Present on the occasion of the inauguration are the Acting permanent secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Bishop Oluseyi Odusola, Directors, outgoing Executive, women political leaders and members of the Nigerian legion, Ondo state.
