
AIYEDATIWA UNVEILS EMPOWERMENT SCHEME FOR ONDO WOMEN, YOUTHS
Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to creating a conducive environment for women to thrive and attain their full potential.
The governor, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, made the declaration on Wednesday during a Women and Youth Empowerment Programme held at The Dome in Akure.
The programme was organised by Friendsociates in collaboration with the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS).
Dr. Aiyedatiwa disclosed that his administration would soon flag off a week-long empowerment initiative aimed at boosting the economic capacity of women across the state.
He maintained that the planned intervention is part of efforts to drive inclusive development and ensure no demographic is left behind in the state’s growth agenda.
He further assured of his government’s determination to provide quality healthcare delivery, particularly for women in rural areas, through various free medical outreach initiatives.
The governor pledged to harness both local and international partnerships, including the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s agricultural and economic empowerment projects, to ensure that women in the state benefit maximally.
“Our administration is not just for the privileged but for every citizen and resident of Ondo State,” the governor stated.
Dr. Aiyedatiwa lauded Friendsociates and the NCWS for their synergy and commitment to grassroots development, noting especially their plans to establish three resource centres and donate farm implements to support women farmers in the state.
He also commended the strategic roles played by non-governmental organisations and development partners in supporting governance and enhancing the delivery of democracy’s dividends.
In her remarks, National President of NCWS, Mrs. Ednah Azura, hailed the governor for his people-centred leadership style and strides in women empowerment.
She pledged the Council’s continued collaboration with the state government.
On her part, the Ondo State President of NCWS, Bishop Seyi Odusola, appreciated the governor for his fatherly support to the womenfolk. She equally applauded Friendsociates for its developmental partnership.
Chairman of Friendsociates, Mr. Biyi Poroye, in his address, praised the administration’s efforts in women and human capital development.
He particularly thanked the governor for intervening and settling the medical bills of a sick child of one of the NCWS members.
Programme Manager, Dr. Morinola Olanipekun, also expressed gratitude to the governor for his support, assuring of the group’s commitment to continued collaboration with the state.
In her keynote address, the Ondo State Comptroller of Immigration, Mrs. Amaka Amara, warned against the dangers of illegal migration. She advised mothers to remain vigilant and monitor their children to curb the menace.
