AIYEDATIWA’S AIDE KIKELOMO IKUOMOLA COMMENDS TINUBU, GOVERNOR ON DEEP SEAPORT PROJECT
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for the approval of the Ondo State Deep Seaport, to be located in Ilaje Local Government Area.
Describing the approval as a historic milestone, Hon. Ikuomola stated that the decision reflects the kind of leadership that looks beyond immediate gains to long-term national interest.
According to her, the project represents a deliberate investment in enduring economic infrastructure, one that will shape Ondo State’s development trajectory and strengthen Nigeria’s maritime and industrial future for decades to come.
Speaking in Abuja, the Special Adviser emphasized that the Deep Seaport is not merely a construction project, but a statement of governance intent one that prioritizes planning, institutional coordination, and sustainable economic growth.
“This approval underscores the value of leadership anchored in vision and responsibility,” she said.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again demonstrated a commitment to building systems that outlast administrations, while Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has shown uncommon resolve in translating Ondo State’s coastal advantage into a concrete development agenda.
“This is how legacies are built through decisions that endure.”
Hon. Ikuomola noted that the Ondo Deep Seaport will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, attract both domestic and foreign investment and significantly improve trade logistics and revenue generation at the state and national levels.
She added that the project is expected to catalyze growth across critical sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, oil and gas services, agricultural exports, and the blue economy, laying the foundation for diversified and resilient economic growth.
She stressed that Ilaje, as the host community, stands at the center of this vision, with opportunities for infrastructure expansion, improved livelihoods, youth employment, skills development, and expanded commercial activity.
At the same time, Ondo State’s economic relevance nationally and internationally, will be strengthened through increased connectivity and competitiveness.
According to the Special Adviser, the Deep Seaport also aligns with broader governance objectives at the federal level, including port decongestion, enhanced maritime efficiency, regional economic integration, and reduced overdependence on oil revenues.
She described the project as a practical example of cooperative federalism in action, where federal approval and state-level preparedness converge to deliver shared prosperity.
Hon. Ikuomola called on all stakeholders to sustain the momentum by ensuring that implementation proceeds with transparency, accountability, and community inclusion. She emphasized that strong governance does not end with approval, but is measured by execution, oversight, and long-term impact.
“Approval is only the first step,” she said.
“What will define this project and the legacy behind it, is our collective ability to implement it efficiently, responsibly, and in a way that earns public trust.
Ondo State is ready to lead that effort.”
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Office of the Special Adviser on Public and Intergovernmental Relations to providing continuous coordination, stakeholder engagement, and intergovernmental support to ensure the project’s successful delivery.
In concluding, Hon. Ikuomola expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for prioritizing institutional development over short-term politics and for advancing a project that will stand as a lasting symbol of purposeful governance.
She described the approval of the Ondo Deep Seaport as “a defining legacy decision”, one that will be remembered not simply for what was built, but for how leadership chose to invest in the future of Ondo State, the coastal communities of Ilaje, and the Nigerian economy as a whole.
