The Chairman of Transition Committee of Akure South local government, Dr. Gbenga Fasua has emerged the best performing council boss in Ondo State.
This was observed at the 2024 edition of Niger-Delta Peace Ambassador Awards held in Akure the Ondo State capital.
The event attended by personalities from within and outside the state was a platform to honour hard work, excellence and commitment to human and societal development.
Organisers of the event described Akure South boss as a yardstick to measure total commitment to uplifting the people at the grassroots as well as the urban areas.
Spokesperson of the organisation said their findings showed that Dr. Gbenga Fasua has convinced the people of his local government area as well as observers that his type should be encouraged to keep leading his people.
According to him, the organisation realised that programmes and policies of the Awardee are not limited to the majority sectors as the vulnerable, the physically challenged and youths have been given recognition in a short time he had been at the saddle of leadership in the local government area.
Another speaker at the event, Chief Samuel Akintade stated that the intervention of Dr. Gbenga Fasua saved residents of flood-prone areas during the raining season as channelisation of major rivers were carried out in response to warnings by NiMET.
Receiving the award as the best performing local government chairman, Dr. Gbenga Fasua described the recognition as a challenge to do more for his people.
While dedicating the award to the people of Akure South local government area, Fasua stressed that programmes carried out are in line with the good governance structure and inclusive administration being run by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
