
ALGIO HOLDS IN-HOUSE TRAINING FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT INFORMATION OFFICERS

As part of deliberate efforts to improve public speaking skills of Information Officers in the Local Government Service of Ondo State, the Executive Committee of Association of Local Government Information Officers (ALGIO) has organized an In – House Capacity Building Workshop for Information Officers in Ondo Central Senatorial District.
The workshop with the theme ‘Understanding The Dynamics of Information Management at the Local Government Level’ was held at the Ondo State Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Akure.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Association, Prince Akeem Momoh said the current executive council under his leadership is conscious of the need for Information Officers to be well acquainted with modern trends in Information Management, hence the Association’s resolve to prioritize the training of its members.
The Chairman recalled that the maiden edition of the training programme organized by the Association was held at Akoko North East Local Government, Ikare – Akoko last year and promised that the Association would put together a similar programme for Information Officers in Southern Senatorial District very soon.
He also used the opportunity to thank the Management of Local Government Service Commission for creating the enabling environment and for the various training programmes organised for Local Government workers.
In his presentation, the resource person who was a former Ondo State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists and a retired Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA),Tona Aderoboye trained the participants in public speaking skills, ethics, elements of news writing and Use of English in formal settings.
