Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Monday urged the kingmakers of Ayeka community in Okitipupa Local Government to sustain the principles and values of the town in choosing new traditional ruler.
He equally charged them to be fair to all the aspirants eyeing the stool in their dealings, promising that, government would give the necessary support for a crisis free Monarch’s selection.
Aiyedatiwa made government position known in a meeting he held with all the kingmakers and the aspirants jostling for the new Lumere of Ayeka land in his office in Akure.
The Deputy Governor counselled the kingmakers, all the aspirants and the people of the community on the need to always seek for peace, harmony and prosperity of their community .
“Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN is so sensitive and fair minded on the issue of concern to the people, particularly traditional institution” .
“Therefore, I enjoin Ayeka kingmakers to sustain the principles and values of your forefathers in chosing the new Lumere of Ayeka” .
“Follow the inspiring examples of your forefathers in carrying out this historic task through the guidance and help of God to chose the rightful candidate as Oba-elect” , he counselled.
In their own contributions, both commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Akogun Akinwunmi Sowore and Executive Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon Igbekele Akinrinwa appealed for peace, as peace would enhanced development of the community.
They equally charged the kingmakers to be truthful and neutral in the selection process.
Speaking on behalf of the Kingmakers, Chairman of the Ayeka kingmakers who is also the Konye of Ayeka, High Chief Kolawole Adeule thanked the Deputy Governor for championing the course of peace in the community while promising a crisis free selection.
“We have done the prayers, we are seeking God’s guidance in picking the right candidate for the new king” .
“Definitely, one of the six aspirants eyeing the stool will be nominated and presented as Lumere-elect” , he said.
