BIRTHDAY: CELEBRATING CONSTRUCTION EXPERT WHO IMPARTS NIGERIA’S SOUTHWEST ROADS, ENGR. KEHINDE OSIKOYA, FNSE
He has made his mark in the Southwestern part of Nigeria as a Civil Engineer with passion for road and bridge construction.
He was the General Manager of the Direct Labour Agency in Lagos State under the then Military Administrator, Col. Buba Marwa(Rtd) who is the current Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Nigeria.
With the various Interventionist projects carried out in the former Federal Capital of the most populous black nation, Engr. Kehinde Osikoya, FNSE rose to become a Permanent Secretary in the public service of Lagos State.
His professional and administrative dexterity made him the Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure to former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State.
A position he held for eight years as he also doubled as the Chairman of Ogun State Road Maintenance Agency (OGROMA) with a record of over 700 road projects which include the Abeokuta-Kobape-Sagamu dualisation project and many more.
After Ogun State was Ondo State as the then Governor Olusegun Mimiko spotted his acumen and made him the Chairman of Ondo State Asphalt Company (OSAC) which eventually metamorphosed to Ondo State Agency For Road Maintenance And Construction (OSARMCO) which was influential to the road revolution programmme of the administration.
It is on record that road rehabilitation during the Mimiko administration was, and still a reference point as nooks and crannies were touched with the Midas approach carried out with passion.
While major towns and villages were being given attention, the abandoned federal roads were not spared as Ondo-Ile-Oluji, Owo-Ikare Roads and many others became a priority of the government with success stories told.
Engr. Kehinde Osikoya, FNSE did not only display his professional relevance during Mimiko administration.
With the little time he spent with Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the Internal and Access Roads in the famous Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa were carried out within the first three months of the Administration.
At the inauguration of the project, traditional rulers Who include the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, Oba Obatuga Adetoye described the commitment given to the project as well as the quality as a yardstick to measure the willingness of the Akeredolu administration to standard and prioritisation of the welfare of the people.
The unsual attention given to the State General Hospital (now University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure Annex) keeps emphasising the level of infrastructural revolution of the Akeredolu administration.
As this Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers celebrates his birthday, we are happy and glad to identify with this professional whose impact is being felt in the southwest Nigeria and by extension, the Nigerian Society.

Engr. Kehinde Osikoya, the birthday ‘boy’. holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from University of Lagos.
The Ijebu-Ode-born workaholic and kind-hearted Engineer is expected to keep contributing his quota to infrastructural development in Nigeria , especially at a period Nigerians are yearning for improved leadership under the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Engineer Osikoya has been honoured at various fora as he was Inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers’ Hall of Fame in 2003; National Distinguished Merit Award in Transportation from Ogun State University and Lagos State Government Productivity Merit Award in 1988.
Engineer Kehinde Osikoya, FNSE has also received numerous awards which include Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award by African International Achievers Merit Award by African International Magazine, African Nation Builders Gold Award by African Gold International Communication; West African Patriotic Leadership Award by Global Vision Communications; Patriotic Achievers Award and many more.
