The newly-elected member in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Oluwole Fatoba has been sworn in.
Hon Fatoba was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the June 18 bye election in the Ekiti East Constituency 1, to replace Hon Oluwajuwa Adegbuyi who died in January 2021.
Administering the oath of office and oath of allegiance on the new member, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye described the day as a bitter-sweet experience in memory of a lost member and welcoming a replacement.
Rt. Hon Afuye welcomed the new lawmaker into the chamber and admonished him to always abide by the oath of office.
He prayed that the house would not witness any loss of lives again.
Speaking after he was sworn in, Hon. Oluwole Fatoba said he has the capacity to give effective representation to the people of the constituency and promised to contribute positively towards the unity and progress of the legislative arm of government, his constituency and the state in general.
He appreciated the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the All Progressives Congress members across the state and in his constituency for the support that led to his victory at the poll.
He specifically praised voters in his constituency for the confidence reposed in him which manifested through their votes at the election.
At the plenary, the Lawmaker representing Ekiti SouthWest 1, Hon Yemisi Ayokunle, speaking Under Matters of Public Importance, called the attention of the House to the deplorable state of Odo-Ilawe road which urgently needs attention.
Hon Ayokunle said the road was in bad shape and appealed for urgent intervention to make travelling more convenient for motorists.
In his reaction, the Speaker of the House, Hon Funminiyi Afuye directed the House Committee on Works to take up the matter and report back to the House soonest.
