
CHRIST’S SCHOOL, ADO-EKITI ALUMNI MOURN ’88 SET MEMBER, BABATUNDE OMOJU, PhD

Family, friends and old school mates, especially the Christ’s School Ado-Ekiti community are mourning the passage of one of them, Babatunde Omoju, PhD.
Tunde Omoju passed on Sunday August 11th in Lagos State.
A statement made public on the social media page of the Alumni Association of the famous Christ’s School expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss of a member of the ’88 set of the association.
“With deep heart of sorrow, Christ School 83/88 set mourns and commiserates with the family of Omoju, Ilogbo – Ekiti, Ido Osi LGA and the entire Christ School family.”
“We lost a brother, a friend, Dr Babatunde Omoju to the cold hands of death 11th of August.”
“Before his demise, he worked with Nigerian Maritime Academy, Oron, Akwa – Ibom State. ‘Tunde, as was fondly called by his mates was a reliable and good friend to call.”
“He’s jovial, cheerful, lovely and always willing to lend helping hands. Your demise still looks like a mystery to us. That’s why we ’83/88 set find it difficult to say goodnight dear brother😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 . Rest on in the heart of your maker ‘Tunde.”

Similarly, another statement made public by the Chairman of the ’88 set of the famous school, Professor Solomon Adekola described late Dr Tunde Omoju as a team player and cheerful mobiliser.
According to the statement made available to newsmen by the set’s Public Relations Officer, Seun Adetola, the academic played significant roles in the development of the association as well as individuals.
“TUNDE OMOJU, PhD, WE ARE SHORT OF WORDS!!!”
“We received the news of the passing of our friend and brother, Tunde Omoju, PhD with a rude shock.”
“Since the news broke in the afternoon, all of us aware had been in psychological crisis as none could explain state of mind.”
“Why again?” was the question on our lips.”
“Dr. Tunde Omoju was such an amiable friend and always ready to be part of our gatherings.
He would not only be there but also ensured the wife was available when the time permitted.”
“I think his last outing with us was when Ameme had his mother’s home-going in Ado-Ekiti.
Tunde would show love. Always jovial, cheerful and accommodating.”
“We pray that his soul rests in peace. We pray that God comforts all he left behind, the wife, children, aged parents and even his first cousin among us, Folabi.”
There have also been individual condolence messages as they all expressed sadness that their friend left them hen too early.
According to a Permanent Secretary in Ekiti State, Barrister Shola Akinluyi, “Tunde, I couldn’t come to terms with the shattering and devastating news of your untimely departure from this sinful world.”
“What’s the essence of life gan an? The last time we met was at Mobi’s birthday at School of Nursing, Ori Apata, Ado Ekiti, where we spent quality time together discussing all topics and every issue.”
“Few weeks later, you called me to help follow up with an eminent elder statesman on a matter you’re processing.
Alas, you’re no more today!
You’re such an amiable and unassuming individual. You treated everyone equally, with respect and dignity.”
“Your death is a clarion call to us all to live well and right.
The life is so short and brutish.

As a way of reflecting on his contributions to the alumni association, a post authored by Dr. Tunde Omoju in July this year on Facebook was shared on the set’s platform.

“The event was part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations of leaving Christ’s School held in 2018.”

But “The School” is only one – Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti.”
