CHRIST’S SCHOOL ALUMNI MOVE TO RETURN ALMA MATER’S OWNERSHIP TO GOVERNMENT
The Alumni Association of the famous Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti has insisted that the school be returned to government for proper administration and sustenance of the legacies of the founding fathers.
This is as a result of the various observations and implications recorded with the return of the school to the missionary which many have described as a potential clog in the expected wheel of progress of the school.
The school was returned to missionary by the government led by Dr. John Kayode Fayemi who is also an alumnus with a good intention but the reactions and observations that followed have not been encouraging.
Following series of complaints, the Alumni Association led by Mr Kunle Lawal Jinadu met with various stakeholders and it had been resolved that the school be returned to government for proper and effective administration and efficiency.
According to a message posted on the Alumni Platform by the General Secretary, Jide Egunjobi, discussions to that effect have been held with the Lord Bishop of Ekiti Anglican Diocese, Rt.Revd Andrew Ajayi and other stakeholders.
Mr. Egunjobi who incidentally was a Commissioner for Education in the state assured that all required processes are being put in place to ensure that the aim of the entire alumni is achieved.
In his words, “I have read through your agitations concerning the return of our beloved school on our different platforms in the past few days. You are all well-appreciated for your roles, advice, and suggestions. More importantly, I thank Professor Bolaji Aluko and Mrs Kofo Olaosebikan for shedding light on this issue by re-posting some of our correspondences with the government and alums”.
“Also, note that Exco was open to the world during the last concluded Homecoming in October by reporting our meeting outcome and proceedings with the Government during the Delegates’ conference and AGM. This should be on YouTube as we speak”.
“Recall as well that the President and I were intentionally livestreaming our discussion with Bishops Andrew Ajayi and Olajide Adebayo on the issue of school uniforms and reiterating the position we hold on other issues like BOG and BOT during the commendation service for the Late Dr Obembe in Ado Ekiti. In this video, the President went vehement with Rev Rotimi Oso—the New School Principal”.
“This is not to say we are not cautious with information, as we have a large population with divergent interests”.
“As we speak, other solutions are being sought, and discussions are ongoing to achieve our aim”.
“Exco insists the Government take the School back as written in our letters. We assure and pray for success that our strategies will yield results”.
“We shall adopt, as noted, the valuable suggestions and advice you have brought up on the platform”.
“We plead for patience and understanding. We shall update you as events unfold so we can reason together again”.
“Let us all continue to work towards the same motive in Unity—no blame game, but encouraging ourselves to achieve the goal”.
“With God on our side, we will succeed “In the name of Christ whose name we bear.”
