
COFAAA GLOBAL PRESIDENT ADEOLA ADEGOKE CHARGES MEMBERS ON COLLABORATION TO MAKE NIGERIAN COCOA INDUSTRY SUSTAINABLE
…As Nigerian Chapter holds maiden meeting after association’s launch in the country
The Global President of Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa, Comrade Adeola Adegoke has reiterated the need for members to collaborate with other stakeholders particularly policymakers, buyers, processors, exporters, research institutes, extensionists among others to make Nigerian cocoa industry sustainable and internationally acceptable through due diligence.
The Global President was speaking at the maiden meeting of the Nigerian Chapter of the association held on the 27th March, 2025 at Cocoa House, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.
This was a follow-up after the launching of the Association in Nigeria on February 12th, 2025 at Ibadan, Oyo State.
The meeting presided over by Comrade Adeola Adegoke was attended by other State Chairmen of the Association with their members from different cocoa producing communities.
The Global President further emphasized the need to improve on the agronomics practices and post harvest processing capabilities of our cocoa farmers through high level capacity trainings and advocacy in order for Nigeria not only to increase her share cocoa production quota but improves on the
cocoa quality.
He said it is the best way to market African cocoa economy that gives the best value for fair cocoa pricing at the global market.
Adegoke emphasized that COFAAA aims to empower African cocoa formers, improve their livelihoods, and increase African’s global cocoa production share through sustainable practices.
He enjoined COFAAA State Chairmen across the cocoa producing States in Nigeria to be selfless in their actions and prioritized cocoa farmers welfare in order for the Association to achieve her goals.
The President assured that COFAAA plans to strengthen the framework of youth inclusiveness in the cocoa value chain in Africa and saluted global cocoa institutions, cocoa origins countries’ governments and other cocoa companies working in African cocoa ecosystems for their unwavering support for the growth of the African cocoa economy through better support to the livelihoods of the smallholder cocoa farmers which accounted for the 70% of the global cocoa production.
The occasion provided opportunity for Comrade Adeola Adegoke to highlight the strategic importance of COFAAA at the African level and the benefits to the cocoa farmers in Nigeria.
