
COURSE 47 SENIOR EXECUTIVE COURSE PARTICIPANTS ARRIVE ONDO FOR STUDY TOUR
…As OSOPADEC Chairman, Biyi Poroye hints of plan to introduce CNG usage to riverine transportation
Participants of the Senior Executive Course 47, 2025 of the National Institute For Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Plateau State have arrived Ondo State on a study tour.
The participants who were drawn from various sectors of the economy were received at the Akure Airport by the officials of the Cabinet and Special Services Department of the Governor’s Office led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Adeyemo represented by the Director of Special Services, Mr. Ayodeji Ageh.
Also on the entourage was the Deputy Director of Special Service, Mr. Adeola Nathaniel.
The team proceeded to the headquarters of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission(OSOPADEC) in Oba-Ile in Akure North local government area.
They were also received by the Chairman of the Commission, Prince Biyi Poroye alongside other members of the management.
Prince Poroye stated that the present administration in the state has put in place structures and processes to complement the efforts of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in realising the “Our Ease” Agenda of the administration.
Poroye emphasised that the state government is in the process of ensuring that speed boats in the riverine area of the state are powered by Compressed Natural Gas(CNG).
The Chairman assured that the commission is already in talks with partners to make the dream a reality.
This, he said would reduce the financial implications on the transport system by lowering cost of mobility from one area to the other.
While noting that the various challenges facing the blue economy include environmental pollution, oil spills and marine waste, Poroye said the commission has intervened in numerous ways.
According to him, the efforts include environmental remediation and pollution control, fisheries support and aquaculture promotion and infrastructural interventions.
In his remarks, Secretary and Director of Administration of the Institute, Muhammad Kabir Suleiman, mni said the participants are glad to be in Ondo State, noting that reports show that the state in one of the most peaceful in the country.
During the study tour, the participants are to pay a courtesy call on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Olowo of Owo who is also the Chairman of Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye in Owo.
In the same vein, the team members are expected to visit the Nigerian Navy Forward Operational Base and Floating Fish Terminal both in Igbokoda the headquarters of Ilaje local government area while they would eventually visit Araromi Seaside as well as the palace of Alara of Araromi.
The event continues on Wednesday with presentation of papers on investment potentials, protection of the environment, tourism, blue economy and many others.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet department of the Governor’s Office, Mr. Adeyemo, the study tour would not be concluded without a visit to the famous Idanre Hills.
