
CULTURE AND TRADITION ON DISPLAY AS BARADAGBA OF ADO-EKITI, CHIEF BUSAYO FALEYE INSTALLED
It was a display of culture and tradition at the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, Aladesanmi lll on Thursday as the new Baradagba of Ado-Ekiti, Chief Busayo Joshua Faleye was officially installed.
The installation of a new Chief for the Baradagba Dynasty came after the demise of Chief Sajowa about 55 years ago.
This explains why both the old and young members of the famous Ado-Ekiti family were enthusiastic about the development.
The members from both home and abroad arrived the palace early in the morning for stages of traditional rites performed by various traditional authorities.
The installation was performed Ewi of Ado-Ekiti represented by the Chief Omosio of Ado-Ekiti and the Ologbosere of Ado-Ekiti who prayed for long life and improved socio-economic development of the Baradagba Dynasty.
Prayers were also offered for sons and daughters of the family while they were assured of the Ewi-in-Council’s support at all times.
The traditional authorities urged the new Baradagba of Ado-Ekiti, Chief Busayo Joshua Faleye to protect the culture of Ado-Ekiti and the people.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after his installation, Chief Busayo Faleye assured all sons and daughters of the dynasty that he would justify the confidence reposed in him.
Chief Faleye promised to work with all stakeholders to restore the glory of the family, especially the plan to transform the family holdings into a complex as being spearheaded by a prominent son, Senator Babafemi Ojudu.
“The family is already proposing to transform our entire structures into a complex that would house residential quarters, commercial area as well as palace court that would re-echo the fact that we had the first zinc roof and glass house in Ado-Ekiti”, Chief Faleye said.
He appreciated all those who came together to make the day a reality, assuring that the task of achieving the task ahead would be a collective responsibility.
“Your participation, whether in person or in spirit, added immense value to this significant moment in my life. I am deeply touched by the love, prayers, gifts, and encouragement extended to me throughout this journey”.
“Your presence made the occasion truly memorable and spiritually uplifting”.
“I pray that just as you have rejoiced with me, celebrations shall never cease in your homes. May joy, peace, and prosperity continue to dwell with you and your loved ones”, Faleye added.
Similarly, the Chairman of the family, Mr Mustapha Bello popularly known as ‘Sayee’ attributed the success of the event to the unity that exists among family members and urged them to sustain the tempo
“I sincerely appreciate Baradagba sons and daughters home and abroad, young and old for your support both morally, financially and spiritually to make the coronation of our chief a reality”.
“I equally thank God for the life of our chief and I pray that his reign will foster love, peace and unity to the house”, Bello prayed.
In the same vein, the ‘Baba Oye’, Barrister Gbenga Babawibe expressed joy that a title that has been vacant for 55 years was filled without any rancour, saying the development signals greater things to expect in Baradagba Dynasty.
The legal practitioner called on other members of the family to keep playing their parts.
In his message to the event, Mr. Temitope Adu who is the eldest child of late Mrs Rachael Ereola Adu better known as ‘Eye Nurse’ who was the elder sister of late Oluwasola Faleye, the father of the chief congratulated the entire family for the successful installation.
He commended the roles played by every individual both home and abroad and called on all stakeholders to ensure that subsequent tasks are collectively achieved.
The Iwuye has been slated for June 18, 2025 when more family members are expected to arrive from far and near for the celebration.
