DELE PHILIPS FOUNDATION RECEIVES ACCOLADES AS NGO EXTENDS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME TO EKAMETA
…Party leaders in attendance as residents of Ikogosi, Ipole-Iloro and Erijiyan received cash gifts
Residents of Erijiyan, Ikogosi and Ipole-Iloro in Ekiti West local government area of Ekiti State have had their share of the empowerment programme initiated by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Dele Philips Foundation.
The programme targeted at 300 beneficiaries mostly women and physically challenged as well as the vulnerable had kicked off in Aramoko, the council headquarters and also held in Okemesi-Ekiti.
This time, it was the turn of the Ekameta consisting of Ikogosi, Erijiyan and Ipole-Iloro where aides to Governor Biodun Oyebanji as well as party leaders gathered to acknowledge the gesture by the Non-Governmental Organisation, Dele Philips Foundation.
Presenting the cash gifts of #10,000 to each of the beneficiaries, the party leaders and top government functionaries in attendance said the gesture would go a long way in complimenting the efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji at making life more meaningful for the people.
According to information supplied to Naijaparrots.com by Mohammed Tajudeen, these submissions were spearheaded by the Chairman of All Progressives Congress in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 2 comprising Ekiti West, Ijero and Efon local government areas, Chief Samuel Ajayi, Special Assistant to Governor Oyebanji on Government House, Deacon Ojo Ogunseesin, Special Assistant to Governor on Transportation, Hon. Taiwo Suleiman as well as Chairman of Erijiyan Ward 5, Odewale Tuyi.
Also addressing the gathering, the member representing Ekiti West Constituency 1 in the house of assembly, Honourable Kareem Agunbiade said the intervention by Dele Philips Foundation is not only worthy of emulation but should be encouraged.
Similarly, the Director of Administration of the NGO, Aare Ebenezer Adebusuyi notes that the empowerment is just a tip of the iceberg as plans are underway to involve more residents, especially women.
The Special Assistant to Governor Oyebanji on Internal Relations who is also the Bobagunwa of Ipole-Iloro assured that the board of the NGO is putting together programmes that would continue to be reference point in terms of complimenting government efforts.
In his remarks, the founder, Mr. Dele Philips thanked the party leaders and top government functionaries for the kind words said about the little he could do.
Represented by a member of the board, Mr. Idowu Philips, he stated that the foundation swung into action, having witnessed the various people-oriented policies and programmes being carried out by Governor Biodun Oyebanji to better the lives of the people.
Philips made reference to the agricultural revolution that has not only made food available but also provided jobs for youths.
He assured that the programme will continue to be held as government could not attend to the challenges being faced by the people.
