Dr. GRACE BABALOLA BECOMES AAUA SIXTH REGISTRAR
The Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University has approved the appointment of Dr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola as the institution’s sixth substantive Registrar.
According to a statement by the Deputy Registrar,
Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit, Victor Alinpelumi, her appointment was confirmed at an emergency meeting of the Council held in Akungba Akoko on March 16, 2026, and takes effect from April 1, 2026. The position carries a tenure of five years.
Dr. Babalola, an accomplished administrator and legal professional, succeeds Dr. Olugbenga Arajulu, whose tenure ended on the same date.
A distinguished alumna of Olabisi Onabanjo University, she graduated in 1999 as the best student in the Faculty of Law with a Second-Class Upper Division. She proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, where she was called to the Bar in 2001.
She further obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Laws (LL.M), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from Ambrose Alli University in 2009, 2018, and 2024 respectively.
Before her appointment, Dr. Babalola served as Deputy Registrar and Head of the Academic Affairs Division of the university. Since joining the institution in 2009 as Senior Assistant Registrar and Head of the Legal Unit, she has held several key administrative positions, including Acting Development Officer (Endowment), Principal Assistant Registrar in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Head of Academic Staff Establishment, and Deputy Registrar in charge of Council Affairs.
Beyond administration, she has contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer since 2019 and has presented papers at conferences across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. Some of the institutions where she has participated in academic engagements include the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Manchester, and Durham University.
Dr. Babalola is also a published scholar with forthcoming books focusing on education law, university leadership, ethical governance, and registry practice.
A Fellow and member of several professional bodies, her affiliations include the Chartered Institute of Corporate Administrators, the Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, the Institute of Policy Management and Leadership Development, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, among others.
Her career has been marked by numerous awards and commendations, including Senate commendations for excellence in documentation and communication, as well as recognition for outstanding performance by the university management.
With decades of experience in university administration, stakeholders say her appointment is expected to further strengthen governance and administrative efficiency at the institution.
The appointment underscores the university’s commitment to promoting professionalism, integrity, and excellence in its administrative leadership.
