Ikoro-Ekiti (Ekiti) June 18, 2022 (NAN) A former governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Ojo, has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the introduction of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to the electoral system in the country.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at his Ikoro-Ekiti country home in Ijero Local Government Area of the State, Ojo affirmed that the BVAS innovation by INEC has made the election seemless and lauded the orderly conduct of the electorate.
NAN reports that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is an electronic device designed to read Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and authenticate voters using the voters’ fingerprints in order to prove that they are eligible to vote at a particular polling unit.
He commended residents of the state on the peaceful and rancour-free manner that the governorship election was conducted.
He further lauded INEC for the innovation introduced to the election, which he said made it free, fair and violent-free.
“The process of voting in my unit took him less than five minutes, the process of this new innovation is second to none in the history of voting in the country.
“Because of this new innovation, the election has been peaceful so far, no problem of ballot snatching, violence or report of crisis from any angle across the state.
“Let me therefore charge loosers at the poll to see the excercise as a win win situation,” noting that there would always be another time for those who are not able to make it now.
The entrepreneur expressed the hope that his party will be victorious when the election result is announced.
