A leading House of Assembly aspirant in Oye Constituency One in Ekiti State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Tope Longe has urged Christians to use Easter to renew their faith in Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world and to pray for Nigeria’s peace and economic development.
In his Easter message Longe who was a council boss in Oye Local Government Area urged the people of the council area, Ekiti State and Nigeria, regardless of religious or cultural affiliation to always sacrifice their time, knowledge, and skills for the advancement and development of the country.
The House of Assembly hopeful who has served in various capacities as aide to Governors also emphasized the need for everyone to pray for peace, economic progress, and religious tolerance.
Mr. Longe gave the admonition in his message to christian faithful on this year’s commemoration of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He said “The lesson of this Easter period is sacrifice. Jesus sacrificed his life, he left everything and surrendered himself, the virtues that he has been demonstrating since his birth, we may not be like Christ, but we should have a semblance of his good virtues for us to have a better society.”
“As Christians, we should vow to praying for each other more at Easter to seek divine intervention and guidance for our leaders”, the community leader added.
He emphasized that this year’s commemoration provided another opportunity for ardent prayers for a fresh dawn and a successful future for individuals and the country as a whole.
While congratulating Christians, Longe urged people to imitate Christ’s values by being a living example for others to follow.
