EKITI RENAISSANCE MOVEMENT CAUTIONS POLITICIANS AS GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION GATHERS MOMENTUM
“…All Ekiti Sons And Daughters Are Qualified To Vie For Any Political Position…”
A Socio-Cultural group in Ekiti State, Ekiti Renaissance Movement has cautioned political gladiators in the state to think Ekiti first in all their dealings as the 2026 governorship election approaches.
The group’s admonition was contained in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti and signed by the National Coordinator, Dr. Francis Ogunrotila and made available to newsmen after the quarterly meeting of the group held in Ado-Ekiti the state capital.
The meeting was attended both physically and virtually by members from Nigeria and the diaspora.
The group stressed that all political gladiators in Ekiti State must see the development and growth of the state as their priority and also play the game according to the rules.
“All representatives of the people at different levels of elective positions, must enlighten their supporters on the need to avoid violence as political activities begin to feature even at the grassroots level.
The movement condemned recent political attacks on supporters of some governorship aspirants, stressing that all Ekiti Sons and Daughters are qualified to contest for the number one seat in the state.
“All Ekiti sons and daughters are eminently qualified to contest for any elective position both home-based or in the diaspora as long as the aspirant has the required qualities and integrity that the people can be proud of.
The Ekiti Renaissance Movement decried any tendency from any quarter that preaches the gospel of discrimination in any political contest.
“Members of Ekiti Renaissance Movement have critically studied the dimension Ekiti State politics is going. This is not only worrisome but also requires urgent intervention from all Ekiti stakeholders, elders, traditional rulers, professionals and interest groups.
“The Ekiti Renaissance Movement condemns in strong terms a situation where privileged few use resources garnered from their various political positions both State and Federal to organise clandestine political caucus meetings to propagate the concept of ” adoption” in a state like ours that yearn for a broad based political leaders not for “family enterprise” or “political persecutionist”
The movement expressed concern over the state of roads leading to Ekiti State which have created a very bad image to the State and equally caused Ekiti State monumental economic loss.
The group called on the federal government to work with the state government to ensure that all the federal roads that are in bad shape are given attention.
