One of the aspirants for the seat of the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency two in the House of Representatives, Mr. Dele Philips has continued to appeal to his followers and supporters from Ekiti West, Efon and Ijero local government areas who are aggrieved over the disruption of the last week primary election held in Aramoko-Ekiti to remain calm and begin to work towards the victory of the APC governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
The APC primary election for the constituency was disrupted last week by thugs, a situation that enraged the followers of Dele Philips who described the incident as an act of injustice on him.
Many had even speculated that Dele Philips would move to another political party but reverse was the case as the aspirant brought together all his followers, pacified them and urged them to return to their wards and communities and start working for the victory of the party in the forthcoming governorship election.
According to him, the party leaders are attending to the controversy of the primary election, saying there was no winner no loser at the moment.
He however said he was prepared to abide by the decision of the party, saying the party is bigger than any member no matter how highly placed.
The international business mogul appreciated the people for their love and support but emphasized that all efforts put in place over his ambition would amount to a waste if Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is not supported, more so that the APC flagbearer is from the constituency.
While emphasizing that he remains committed to BAO project, Dele Philips assured his supporters that he would visit all the 33 wards and all the units in the constituency before the election while necessary logistics would be made available for effective mobilisation.
In his words, “we should all be aware that the governoship project of our party superceeds any other one as emergence of Biodun Oyebanji as Governor would attract more opportunities to both individuals and communities. I am determined to provide all required support for you to ensure that you play significant roles in the forthcoming governorship election”.
He did not end his speech without distributing some fez caps, t-shirts and other campaign souvenirs in support of Biodun Oyebanji to the large gathering.
Also speaking, the Director-General of BAO Campaign Committee in Central Senatorial District, Chief Remi Oguntuase said party leaders at the state level had also appealed to Mr. Dele Philips and expressed joy at the situation he met at Aramoko-Ekiti where the party followers and leaders have taken a decision to move forward and as well work for the victory of the party and Biodun Oyebanji in the governoship election.
Chief Oguntuase stressed that he was in Aramoko-Ekiti to appeal to the community as well as the party faithful from Efon, Ijero and entire Ekiti West local government area to join hands together to make the party victorious, assuring that processes are being put in place to ensure that all interests are taken care of.
Similarly, Director of Administration of Dele Phillips Foundation, Chief Ebenezer Adebusuyi said arrangements have been concluded to carry out another empowerment programme for women in the area, urging the party faithful to support everything Dele Philips lays his hands on in the process of liberating his people.
In their contributions, party leaders who include APC Chairman in Ekiti West LG, Pa. Olu Aladeloye, Efon LG party Chairman, Idowu Ojo, Hon. Ayo Awe from Ijero LG and Hon. Foluso Ogundele as well as Rt. Hon. Gbenga Odebunmi and former Chairman of the party in Ekiti West LG, Mrs. Funmi Awosina all spoke in one voice that all party leaders and members should align with the decision of Mr. Dele Philips to prioritize the emergence of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as the Governor come June 18th.
They urged party faithful to embark on house-to-house campaign and continue to emphasize the implication of continuity in governance in the state, considering the numerous Interventionist programmes being carried out by the present administration of Kayode Fayemi.
The event was not only a speech-making one as there was much to eat and drink as two live bands were on hand to entertain and add glamour to the occasion.
