
EKITI SET TO HOST INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL
…As Lync Tours and Consultants approved to handle tour operations during the festival
Stakeholders in the entertainment industry are working towards hosting of International Theatre Festival in Ekiti State.
The event is expected to hold in August this year.
The Duke of Shomolu will be injecting over N200m into Ekiti State economy during the International Theatre Festival.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has given executive approval to the project.
The Festival which is expected to engage over 10,000 direct and indirect employees will attract about 200,000 participants and pull in N2b in concerted revenues while impacting Culture, hospitality, aviation, tourism and the entertainment sectors
All local governments in the state will receive N2m grant to participate while 10 major productions from the Duke of Shomolu stables, including Fajuyi and Kashimawo written and directed by Ojo Bakare would be presented to the public.
The new Play on the great Hubert Ogunde also written and directed by Prof Ojo Bakare who is also the Hon. Commisioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy would also be performed.
The opening ceremony will be a top-notch music concert while the festival will also feature an Arts Exhibition where artworks will tell the rich history of Nigerian Theatre.
Ekiti International Theatre Festival will generate 2 billion Naira for the state from tourists, corporate organisations, businesses and so on. It will engage more than 5000 young men and women through the Festival.
Lync Tour & Consultant has also been approved to handle the tour operations during the festival in a bid to showcase Ekiti-State’s Arts, Culture and Tourism values.
