ENOUGH WITH THE DIVISIVE KOLA NUT: AKURE IS ONE KINGDOM, NOT TWO RIVAL BANKS
His Imperial Majesty, the revered Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, the undisputed paramand father of all Akure land.
The so-called gentle plea from the Justice Forum is not gentle. It is a polished dagger wrapped in the cloak of tradition, quietly slicing at the unity you have consistently worked hard to protect.
Akure Kingdom is one, one blood, one crown, one destiny under your fatherly leadership.
You have said it clearly and without ambiguity. When I say Akure, I mean anybody from Akure, whether Akure North, Akure South, or Ifedore; all is Akure.
You have repeatedly lamented that the lack of unity among Akure-speaking communities is the major reason we have not produced the governor of Ondo State.
You have urged all of us to embrace peace and oneness, reaffirming that you remain the prescribed authority over both Akure North and Akure South, as backed by history, government circulars, and court judgments.
Yet this recent write-up insists on carving our kingdom into “opposite banks. Akure North versus Akure South, as if man-made local government boundaries can override the sacred unity forged by our ancestors from Ile-Ife.
It pushes a rigid “it is our turn” narrative for one side alone, ignoring that the Ala River does not belong to one farm alone. The same river flows through the entire land and sustains us all as one people, long before any local government was created.
The claim that Akure North has not yet had its turn” since 1999 is selective and misleading.
Political records show that several representatives with roots in communities now under Akure North, such as Igbatoro and Iju have carried the flag for the joint federal constituency in the past.
The seat belongs to the entire constituency, not to any single local government as private property.
Turning this shared position into a perpetual North-versus-South battle is the real threat to the shared duty and shared dignity preached.
Those fanning this dichotomy are not serving equity; they are sowing discord that weakens our collective voice in Abuja and distracts us from what truly matters which is producing competent, loyal leaders who will attract federal projects, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and development for every ward across the whole of Akure Kingdom.
In our culture, true fairness is not rigid zoning that breeds resentment.
It is the selection of the best hands. Men and women of character, competence, and unwavering loyalty to the throne and the people who see the constituency as one indivisible entity under the Deji.
When we stand as one Akure, the canoe carries abundance to all farms.
The kola nut is shared among every hand because we are one family. This is not a quarrel with any individual’s past service.
It is a firm rejection of any attempt to import divisive politics into the sacred space of Akure Kingdom.
In 2027, let’s prioritize unity, choose leaders based on merit, not emotions or biases, and put the nation’s interests above local or personal agendas.
Let’s support talented individuals from across Akure to represent our community in the National Assembly, uniting our voice and strengthening our collective impact.
Akure thrives when we unite as one people, putting aside divisions and working together under our shared heritage. We share a common language, ancestry and destiny.
Let’s move forward together towards greater greatness.
With this oneness you have prophesied, even the governorship will come in due time. Without it, we remain divided and diminished.
May all Royal Fathers continue to guide us in peace. May Akure-speaking communities bury every seed of artificial division and rise as the formidable, united force we truly are.
Akure is ONE.
Let’s unite, Akure! There is no room for division or segregation. Every true son and daughter should reject anything that fractures our family bond.
We’re stronger together!
Let’s get it straight: Akure’s strength lies in unity, competence, and loyalty to our kingdom.
Our ancestors, the river, and the palace all point to this truth.
The Deji’s leadership is our guide. Let’s follow with pride and honour. We’re one people, one kingdom, one destiny.
